Cuisine: Sweden
800g mince beef 200g minced pork 3 tsp salt 0.5 tsp white pepper 1 onion 100 g breadcrumbs 1 egg 2 dl (200 ml) water 0.5-1 dl (50-100 ml)cream
Mix bread crumbs, egg, water and cream. Leave for 10 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Roll the meat balls.
Fry them in a frying pan or bake them in the oven. If you make many and want to freeze I recommend baking them in the oven and freeze separately.
In the oven: Turn the oven on, 250°C. Put your meat balls in a buttered, cold oven tray. Place the tray in the bottom of the oven and bake for 8 minutes. Shake the tray and bake for 5 more minutes. (Depending on the size of your meat balls, you might need a little less time.)
Swedish meatballs are traditional but still recipes can vary. This is a classic recipe. Feel free to add some extra spices, e.g. a pinch of chilli powder.
Rolling meatballs for Christmas is a fun family tradition. All can help.
