Grandma’s Gingerbread

300 g butter
5 dl (500 ml) sugar
1 dl (100 ml) golden syrup
2 dl (200 ml) water
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp ground cloves
1 tbsp bicarbonate of soda
1.6 l flour

Mix all ingredients to a smooth dough. Save some flour for later. The dough can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days.

Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, a few millimeters thick. Cut out cookies and  bake for 6-8 minutes in 175°C.
